Associate Designer — Concept, Materials & Construction Direction | Toddler Accessories
The Hanna Andersson Toddler Accessories Collection presented a design challenge that sits at the intersection of fantasy and function: create accessories that spark imagination in kids while surviving the realities of toddler life. Magical Forest became the creative framework — a world of woodland creatures, cozy textures, and storybook warmth, executed to Hanna Andersson's exacting quality standard.
Material selection drove every design decision. I developed a detailed materials and construction overview for the line, evaluating options across angora-blend knits, sherpa, and structured wovens to identify the right hand-feel and durability balance for each accessory type. Hat construction was designed for ease of dressing — a critical factor for toddler product — with stretch and snap configurations tested for fit across head circumferences. Lug-sole booties were developed with ground contact, flex, and indoor-outdoor versatility in mind.
The color system used a rich primary palette for hero pieces, with earthy secondary tones for accessories that needed to coordinate across the broader seasonal range. Final samples show the translation from concept through to finished product — a process that required close collaboration with the sourcing and product development teams to hit both aesthetic and performance targets.

MAGICAL FOREST
As the Associate Designer on this project, I supported the full creative development of the Magical Forest accessories collection—from early concepting through final design handoff. I partnered closely with the senior designer to build the seasonal story, curated inspiration, and sketched initial accessory silhouettes, including character hats, knitted booties, and icon-driven knitwear. I refined color palettes, selected yarn qualities, and helped translate whimsical forest motifs into clean, production-ready artwork. My role also included cross-functional coordination with PD and merchandising to ensure fit, cost, and aesthetic alignment across the collection.
